The minor in Actuarial Sciences is sponsored jointly by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Finance and Economics in the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. This minor provides the theoretical foundations for students interested in a career in the actuarial sciences. Students completing the minor should have the background necessary to prepare for the actuarial exams P/1 and FM.
The seven required courses represent a total of 22 credits to complete the minor. Some of the required courses also have pre-requisites. Students who need all the pre-requisites in addition to the seven required courses would also need to take MTH 141 : Calculus I (4 credits), MTH 142 : Calculus II (4 credits), MTH 253 : Linear Algebra (4 credits), ECA 112 : The National Economy (3 credits), for an additional 15 credits.
