Designed for practicing art educators, the Masters of Arts in Art with a track in Community Arts Education deepens studio practice while building individualized art teaching skills.  Drawing from Adelphi’s rich studio resources as its core (such as a leading ceramics facility, printmaking, watercolor painting, fiber arts, and other areas), innovative graduate level Art Education coursework, our unique Exploring the Arts series in interdisciplinary arts education (from Educational Theatre, to Waldorf Education, Autobiography, and many other courses), and Education courses in technology and creativity, this program helps the teaching artist to become a studio professional.

Courses are 3 credits unless noted otherwise.

Required Courses


Required courses include Major Creative Project (3credits), 27 elective credits in Graduate Studio Art, 6 elective credits in the Art Education courses, 3 credits in Exploring the Arts, and 3 credits of electives in Graduate Education, giving the 42 total credits needed to graduate.
