Trauma Treatment, Postgraduate Certificate

This is a one-year certificate program-granting program specializing in the assessment and treatment of Traumatic Stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The training includes didactic components that emphasize the developmental, neurological, and psychological aspects of trauma, integrated from a psychodynamic orientation that offers an evidence-based foundation for the application of clinical treatment. In addition to its primary mandate of training, candidates in the program will provide treatment services to underserved populations that have demonstrated a strong need, including (but not limited to) veterans, immigrants, children in foster care, or the formerly incarcerated.

Admission Requirements
This program is open to all mental health professionals with at least two years of clinical experience post license or certification.
Applicants should complete an online application. CV and personal statement are required to complete the application. Applicants should arrange to send transcripts and two letters of recommendation directly to Adelphi. The applicant will be contacted for a personal interview.
Program Requirements
• Satisfactory completion of course work shown below.
• 40 hours of supervision.
• 80 hours of treating, at least, two trauma survivors
Curriculum
(18 credits)
Please note that these courses provide Continuing Professional Education credits, not graduate credits. Each credit represents 6 hours of class time.
