Registered nurses enter Adelphi with a foundation of professional knowledge and skill. This program of study aims to deepen their expertise with study in the liberal arts and sciences and to extend it to encompass health promotion, long-term care, research, advocacy, teaching, change, and management.
The undergraduate program for registered nurses is designed to accommodate the schedules of working nurses. This program is offered at the Garden City site in a cohort model. Courses will be held online with the exception of 35 clinical hours.

Application Requirements:
- Associate of Science Degree from a regionally accredited university
- Current, unrestricted United States RN License*
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above**
- Required courses:
✓ Anatomy and Physiology I and II
✓ Microbiology
✓ English composition
✓ Chemistry (3 credits)
✓ Statistics
- A minimum of 60 credits from an Associate’s Degree program and/or a non-nursing Bachelor’s program
- Grades of C+ or higher in above listed science courses
*An applicant without a current unrestricted United States RN License may be accepted under probation, and must obtain an unrestricted United States RN License to remain in the program within 6 months
**An applicant may be accepted under conditions of probation with a GPA of 2.5-2.9
Degree Requirements:
The BS in Nursing Degree will be awarded upon completion of required science courses and all RN to BS major courses; 124 total credits are needed for graduation (including transfer credits). The student will be responsible for completing any elective credits necessary to fulfill the 124-credit requirement for graduation.
Transfer Courses:
(up to 34 credits)
AS nursing courses (up to 34 credits) as well as other non-nursing courses will be transferred in.
