The Sport Management undergraduate program prepares students for a career in collegiate, professional and amateur sport organizations. Two concentrations are offered in: 1. management; marketing; communications; entrepreneurship and 2. youth sport programming and recreational sport administration. Students are introduced to all aspects of sport marketing and communications, event management, youth-sport programming and development, administration and technology, and gain proficiency in marketing analysis and implementation, budget preparation, event management, facility operations, media operations and business management.

General Education
All students must satisfy the University’s General Education requirements , in addition to the requirements for the major. Students completing the B.A. degree in the College of Arts and Sciences must also satisfy the University’s foreign language requirement. There is no University requirement for a foreign language for the B.A. degree awarded by other schools of the University or for other bachelor’s degrees such as the B.S. or B.F.A.
Sport Management Foundational Courses
All sport management majors are required to take 24 credits of foundational courses as outlined below.

Management, Marketing, Communications & Entrepreneurship Concentration
Students concentrating in management, marketing, communications & entrepreneurship are required to take the four (4) required courses listed below.

Electives in Management, Marketing, Communication & Entrepreneurship
Students choosing a concentration in Management, Marketing, Communication & Entrepreneurship are required to take 12 credits of specialized electives in Management, Marketing, Communication & Entrepreneurship.

Youth Sport Programming & Recreational Sport Administration Concentration
Students concentrating in Youth Sport Programming & Recreational Sport Administration are required to take the four (4) courses listed below.

Electives in Youth Sport Programming & Recreational Sport Administration Concentration
Students choosing a concentration in Youth Sport Programming & Recreational Sport Administration are required to take 12 credits of specialized electives in Youth Sport Programming & Recreational Sport Administration.

Strategic Sport Management Electives
Sport management majors are required to take 12 credits of strategic sport management electives in consultation with a program advisor from any of the following disciplines: SMP (0855), PED (0852), PES (0853), HED (0834), or ESC (0854)

Practicum
Sport management majors are required to take a minimum of three (3) credits of practicum and up to six (6) credits in total. Credits above three (3) can be counted toward the elective requirements.
