Music Minor

The Minor in Music can be tailored to the individual needs and talents of the student. The following are the minimal requirements for the Minor in Music.

Theory
(4 courses, 8 credits total)
History
(2 courses, 6 credits total):
Private Instruction (MUP (0198))
(4 courses, 2 credits total)
All music minors are required to enroll in private lessons in voice or an instrument for 4 semesters.
Ensemble Performance (MUO (0197)
(4 courses, 2 credits total)
All music minors are required to enroll in a large ensemble (symphony orchestra, chorale, or concert band) for 4 semesters. Additionally, music minors are encouraged to participate in a small ensemble (such as Jazz Ensemble, Opera Workshop, or Chamber Music Ensemble).

Additional Information
While there is no formal audition process in order to take the Minor in Music, students should meet with an adviser from the Department of Music before registering. |
