MTH (0144) 363 - Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis

Credits: 3.00

Students explore functions of several variables (representatives and uses), matrix methods (representation and manipulation), curve fitting (statistical analysis of data and a study of parameters), and probability. These topics will be tied together through the ideas of mathematical modeling. Students utilize technology as a tool for the solving of problems

Prerequisite 1: MTH 225  OR MTH 362
Course Learning Goals: 1. Students will understand how to use quantitative methods (both mathematical and statistical) as a form of inquiry based on deductive reasoning.
2. Students will be able to reach an informed conclusion to a quantitative study.
3. Students will understand the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative reasoning.
4. Students will understand the importance of and create clear and accurate reporting in a quantitative study.
