    Credits: 3

    Deals with alternative methods of health care delivery and problem conditions imposed externally and internally in effective compliance; health maintenance organizations, health care corporations, group practices, proprietary, governmental agencies and hospitals, community health groups, health related facilities; homes for the aged and infirm, nursing homes, and other health care facilities.

    The utilization of manpower, its management and direction. Manpower direction is viewed from an operational resource stance rather than that of personnel administration. Course deals with operational performance of individuals, services, and departments and the measurement and levels of quality of performance.

    Principles of law and administrative regulations in their application to health care agencies, institutions and organizations.     Credits: 3.00

    This course provides fundamental experiential proficiency to health services administrators not formally trained in the health sciences. Students will become familiar with key concepts and terminology and learn to communicate with others in the healthcare field knowledge. Rotations, through managerial departments in healthcare facilites, allow students to gain real-world practical experience.

    This course introduces the student to the fiscal structure of hospitals and their relationship to various healthcare delivery systems. Topics include: financial reporting, budget making and control, cash flow, information systems necessary to evaluate and manage hospital problems, effect of financing methods on patient care.

    Credits: 3.00

    This course provides students with supervised professional training and experience in a work environment. It is an ongoing seminar between students, supervising faculty member and employment preceptor. It involves completion of a learning contract, meetings with the faculty member, professional experience at senior-level and completion of a major project.

    The Internship (ISP 493+494) fulfills the capstone requirement in International Studies. Working with a faculty advisor, the student will complete an analytical paper written in English that connects the student’s work experience to academic knowledge. The student selects, and the faculty approves, the professional organization and the internship location.
