Candidate must hold a master’s degree in a related area and a valid New York State Teacher certification to complete the advanced certificate program. Candidate assumes full responsibility for all tuition and fees incurred. Advanced Certificates in Literacy Education
A candidate must hold a related Master’s degree and a valid NYS teacher certification to be eligible for the Post-Master’s program.
The following courses are required for students seeking a NY State Certification:
- One course that develops the skills necessary to provide instruction and progress of students with disabilities for students
- One course in Children’s Literature or Literature for Young Adults
- One course in the cultural aspects of Literacy
Course selection must be approved by department adviser
Candidates can choose between three programs to obtain certification as a literacy specialist Federally Mandated Gainful Employment Disclosure
