(18 credits)

In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, financial literacy and the ability to understand financial statements and budgeting are increasingly valuable, regardless of one’s primary field of study. The Minor in Accounting at Adelphi University aims to provide students with a foundation for understanding accounting principles and practices, and to offer them a significant advantage in the competitive global marketplace. There are industries including but not limited to manufacturing, retail, healthcare, technology, non-profits, and education that increasingly require employees who can manage budgets, analyze financial data, and understand the economic implications of their decisions. This Minor in Accounting will enhance the students’ ability to succeed in a wide range of careers. An understanding of accounting principles will become a critical asset for students planning to enter leadership or managerial roles in the industry of their choice. Students in all areas of business such as economics, finance, management, and marketing as well as students in arts and sciences and non-business professions can benefit from the knowledge gained from a minor in accounting. For more information, please contact the Chair of Accounting & Law at pandit@adelphi.edu.
