This program leads to a Students with Disabilities (SWD) All Grades and Bilingual Extension. This inservice track is open to candidates who hold a valid base NYS teaching certificate other than special education or bilingual education.
All courses are 3 credits. Courses with an * indicate number of required fieldwork hours.

During the student teaching experience candidates will be observed by Adelphi faculty supervisors and teacher mentors who will use the Danielson Framework and Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) for ongoing feedback and final evaluation. For the SWD All Grades certification and bilingual extension, placements will include possible settings in diverse PreK-12 inclusive, resource, self-contained and/or ESL/ENL classrooms. Upon successful completion of all program courses and satisfaction of any/all undergraduate deficiencies candidates register for: Additional Requirements for Program Completion/State Certification
- Satisfactory completion of Content Core Requirements and General Education courses, including a foreign language
- Maintenance of 3.0 GPA in all program coursework
- All teacher certification candidates must take and pass the New York State Teacher’s Certification Examinations (NYSTCE) required for their particular area of certification which includes the Content Specialty Test in Multisubject, Students with Disabilities and the BEA
- Candidates will be required to complete the NYSED DASA workshop
