The Master’s in Technology Education, Inservice prepares students for careers in teaching technology education, with certification in all grades, Pre-K-12. The program supports students to become effective and passionate teachers who can design robust project-based curriculum, connect across school communities, and inspire their students to think rigorously and creatively about technology education.

The program offers courses online and in-person, allowing candidates to take courses conveniently, and continue in their current jobs while studying. The program can be completed in three semesters and includes 30 credits of coursework and practicum. Candidates benefit from our collaborative partnerships with school districts, our exceptional mentor teachers in the field, and our strong STEM program.

Full time students can complete the program in three semesters.  All courses are 3 credits.

Candidates applying to this program are expected to have an undergraduate major or the equivalent in technology. Upon application to the program, candidates’ transcripts will be evaluated for appropriate coursework required under New York State regulations.

Electives


Elective classes with prefixes BIO and CSC are technology electives. These courses are selected to enhance students’ skills in technology. They can be used to remedy content deficiencies in the area of Technology Studies. Elective classes with prefixes EBE, EDT, and EEC are education electives. They are designed to provide students with additional education in the areas of working with English Language Learners, Students with Special Needs and with teachers who are interested in using Educational Technology. These electives may be able to be transferred to additional advanced certificates or degrees in the School of Education.
