The Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics prepares graduates for careers as Registered Dietitians in a wide variety of settings including but not limited to hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, community centers, health departments, and private practice. This program includes 16 didactic courses along with six field work courses. Field work courses provide a total of 785 hours of field work in professional work settings. The program structure has been developed to ensure that students master all competencies and performance indicators required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. All courses will be fully online and field work will be completed in-person. Distance education will be available for field work for students residing outside of the Tri-state area. Students take courses in a range of nutrition topics including medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, food service management, life cycle nutrition and nutrition for special populations. Fieldwork courses include supervised experiential learning opportunities in a variety of settings including acute care, long-term care, community, foodservice, and research. Upon completion of the two-year full time Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree, graduates are eligible to sit for the Registered Dietitian Credentialing Examination.

Admissions Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
- Completion of the prerequisite courses listed below, an introductory psychology course, an introductory sociology, a human anatomy and physiology two-course sequence with laboratory, a minimum four-credit chemistry course with laboratory, and a microbiology course.
- Completion of an application form for the Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree program. This graduate degree program is housed in the School of Health Sciences in the Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences.
- Completion of a 500-word essay on reasons for applying to theprogram
- Completion of a personal interview (not required to be on campus, can be via electronic technology)
- Submission of two letters of recommendation
