Infant Mental Health and Developmental Practice is an interdisciplinary field that represents a dramatic shift in clinical practice that focuses on the development of 0-5 year olds within the context of the early parent-child relationship across developmental domains. The IMH-DP Graduate Program provides the necessary developmentally informed and trauma focused specialized preparation for advanced professional practice for multidisciplinary professionals in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology and Speech and Language Pathology to work with 0-5 year olds and their parents. The IMH-DP program is 48 credits and spans over 15 months. It builds upon the foundation year in each primary program. The curriculum provides the knowledge, skills, values, ethics and sophisticated clinical training needed in work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents, offering ways of conceptualizing early disruptions in the attachment process, and of organizing interventions.
