Bachelor of Science Degree from Adelphi University/Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry
Adelphi University has a 3+4 joint degree program with SUNY College of Optometry which students’ study for three years at Adelphi. After completing 90 credits at Adelphi, students begin their first year of optometry school which counts as the final 30 credits needed to be eligible for the bachelor’s degree at Adelphi. The bachelor’s degree will be awarded by Adelphi University after the first year of optometry school. After successful completion of the fourth year at SUNY Optometry, students are eligible for the O.D. degree.

3+4 Admissions Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of at least (90) credits of course work at Adelphi, including completion of all General Education requirements, all major coursework and the following pre-requisite coursework:
- Maintain a 3.3 GPA overall GPA and 3.3 in all science and math coursework.
- No grade lower than a “C”
- Take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT) in the fall of junior year. OAT scores including Total Science of 330 or above should be reported.
- Submit OptomCAS Application no later than December 31 of junior year.
- Received favorable recommendation from the Adelphi Pre-Health Council.
