4+4 Collaborative Affiliation Agreement (Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)

Adelphi University has a 4+4 collaborative affiliation agreement with Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences which students’ study for four years at Adelphi and earn their B.S. degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry. The collaborative affiliation agreement is designed to facilitate the admission of Adelphi University students into Buffalo’s PharmD program. After successful completion of the fourth year at ACPHS, students are eligible for the PharmD degree.

4+4 Admissions Eligibility Requirements 

  • Completion of B.S. degree with Adelphi and the following pre-requisite coursework at Adelphi:
       o Biology with lab: BIO 111  & BIO 112   
       o Chemistry with lab: CHE 111  & CHE 112   
       o Organic Chemistry with lab: CHE 251  /CHE 253    CHE 252  /CHE 254  
       o Physics with lab: PHY 111  or PHY 113  & PHY 112  or PHY 114   
       o Calculus: MTH 141  & MTH 142   
       o 2 Semesters of English
       o Statistics: MTH 113  or MTH 114   
       o 1 semester of behavioral sciences
       o Microbiology: BIO 238   
       o Anatomy & Physiology: BIO 203   and BIO 204   
  • Maintain at least a 3.5 overall GPA.
  • No grade lower than a “C”
  • The Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) is required. There is no minimum score requirement, but scores at or above the national average are considered highly competitive for entry. If taken three or more times, the average of all the scores is considered. Applicants are encouraged to take the Official PCAT Multiple Choice Practice Tests (examinees who take this usually score higher). PCAT test over three years old are not acceptable.
  • Submit the PharmCAS application to Buffalo PharmD program by October 1 of the senior year
  • Received favorable recommendation from the Adelphi Pre-Health Council and 2 additional recommendation letters.
  • Invitation for a formal interview at University at Buffalo’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for program participants who have manifest scholastic achievement, aptitude, personal qualifications including communication skills, leadership ability plus community service, health care-related or research experience, and motivation for pursuing a career in pharmacy.
