Studies in the MS in Applied Mathematics and Data Science will prepare students for careers in many areas, including scientific computing, optimization, graduate study, or entry into any field of statistics, and will also give them the necessary background and experience to serve as statistical consultants.
Students applying to this program must hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related and/or equivalent degree. An official transcript must be provided. In addition, students must include three letters of recommendation and a personal essay in which the candidate describes their interest in the field and their professional goals. Students who are provisionally accepted must obtain at least a B in MTH 501 (Foundations of Advanced Mathematics).
