The BA/MA 5-Year Program in Psychology provides undergraduate students the opportunity to complete the baccalaureate and master’s degrees within five years of study. It is primarily intended for students who would like to 1) accelerate their study in psychology, 2) develop a focus area of study in graduate psychology, 3) increase preparation for further advanced study (e.g., Ph.D.) , and 4) pursue specialized areas of study such as substance abuse counseling or human resource management. Students in this program must complete the Psychology, B.A.   and the additional M.A. requirements for the program.

Undergraduate applicants may apply for the BA/MA program at the time of their initial application or once they begin their studies. Eligible undergraduate students would have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher in both the Psychology major and in their overall academics. In addition, eligible students will also have achieved a minimum of 30 credits in undergraduate psychology courses.  A recommendation from the undergraduate chair is required for advancement into the MA program.  Once undergraduate students advance to the MA program, they will meet with the BA/MA coordinator who will advise and provide support through the transition from BA to completion of the MA degree which would lead to the fulfillment of 36 (M.A. General Psychology), 36 (M.A. General Psychology, Concentration in Human Resource Management), or 39 (M.A. General Psychology, Concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling) additional credits at the graduate-level.
