CIP Code: 52.0301

(30 credits)
Estimated time of completion: 2 years

This certificate program is meant for individuals considering careers in bookkeeping and accounting without committing to a four-year degree program. The program consists of undergraduate courses in accounting, finance and business, and will help students explore the discipline of accounting and gain a basic understanding of accounting principles and techniques. The purpose of the program is to enable students to get entry-level accounting positions in both business and non-profit entities. Part-time students can complete the certificate in four semesters or two years. However, depending on a student’s prior coursework, certain prerequisite courses may be required in order to gain entry into the FIN 330  course. These prerequisites, if required, will increase the length of the program for those students. Prior Learning credits cannot be applied to undergraduate certificates. Students currently enrolled in undergraduate certificates as of October 1, 2015 may continue to pursue their certificate under the previous guidelines until they graduate. Prior to being enrolled students may transfer in a maximum of 12 credits into the certificate program. Candidates for this program must have completed at least 30 credits.
