Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology

The Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology provides Fellows with training and professional experience leading to the fulfillment of New York State licensure as a psychologist. This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position and extends over two years. 

Admission Requirements


Applicants are required to have earned a PsyD or PhD in clinical, counseling or school psychology from an APA approved program, to have completed an APA approved internship, and to have a limited permit to practice in New York State.
Applicants should complete an online application. CV and personal statement are required to complete the application. Applicants should arrange to send transcripts and two letters of recommendation directly to Adelphi. The applicant will be contacted for a personal interview.

 

Program Requirements


• Direct clinical work with 4-5 patients for a minimum of 150 hours of treatment. 

• Approximately 4-5 intakes per semester

• Satisfactory completion of two years of classes in either the Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy or the Postgraduate Program in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

• Teaching eight 3-credit classes (2 per semester)

• 80 hours individual supervision (once per week)

• 18 hours group supervision (once per month)

• 36 hours Intake Seminar/Case conference (twice per month)

• 80 hours weekly personal psychotherapy

Curriculum


Candidates may choose between two tracks: Adult Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.  Please note that these courses provide Continuing Professional Education credits, not graduate credits. Each credit represents 6 hours of class time.
