Latin American and Latinx Studies Minor

(18 credits)

The minor in Latin American and Latinx studies will prepare students for careers in law, education, justice administration, healthcare, social work, and in the area of business and community agencies that interact with people from the diverse cultures of Latin American Countries.

Students wishing to minor in Latin American and Latinx studies must demonstrate proficiency in SPA (0172) 122 - Level IV Spanish . Students with an interest in a French and/or Portuguese-speaking region can be accommodated with adviser approval.

The Latin American and Latinx studies minor consists of 18 credits; students are required to take 6 credits from each of the following clusters:

Cluster 1

Economics, History, and Political Science (credits to be taken from at least two disciplines)

Cluster 2

Culture and Society, African, Black and Caribbean Studies, Anthropology, Sociology (credits to be taken from at least two disciplines)

Cluster 3

Languages and Literatures.
