(63 credits)

The Derner Global Mental Health Concentration will provide counseling students with foundational instruction in clinical mental health counseling, including theories, research methods, and clinical applications of psychological science which can be applied in domestic and international settings. Our already well-established MHC curriculum combined with a focused training in Global Mental Health will rigorously prepare all students with the requisite knowledge and general clinical skill sets to provide mental health services in multicultural settings worldwide. International students may opt to return to their homelands to practice or domestic students may desire to work abroad. Given the M.A. Mental Health Counseling degree satisfies the requirements for New York State licensure, students will be able to offer clinical services and practice independently within the state and nationally through some degree of reciprocity (eligibility varies by state).
