Group Psychotherapy Certificate

This two-year program consists of didactic and experiential course work, clinical supervision, and personal group therapy. Major schools of psychoanalytic group theory and technique are represented with an emphasis on the relational approach. Systems, cognitive, crisis-intervention, and behavioral modalities are included in course work and experiential learning.

Admission Requirements
Applicants should complete an online application. CV and personal statement are required to complete the application. Applicants should arrange to send transcripts and two letters of recommendation directly to Adelphi. The applicant will be contacted for a personal interview.
Program Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of the two-year curriculum shown below.
- 85 sessions as the therapist to an ongoing group therapy
- 75 hours of personal supervision (group supervision for up to 50 hours)
- A case presentation during the second year or later
- 15 months of personal group therapy, concurrent with the program
It is also possible to elect a one-or two-year program which involves didactic and experiential course work and leads to a Certificate in Group Process. Curriculum
Please note that these courses provide Continuing Professional Education credits, not graduate credits. Each credit represents 6 hours of class time.
