The 17-credit Post-Master’s Bilingual Extension Advanced Certificate for the School Social Worker is intended for individuals who hold an M.S.W. and a valid New York State Certification in School Social Work. Candidates for the Advanced Certificate will be required to pass the (NYSTCE) Bilingual Education Assessment (BEA), and the Child Abuse and Violence Prevention Seminars and DASA.

EBE (0804) 605 - Foundations of Bilingual Special Education Credits: 3 *
EBE (0804) 610 - Meth & Materials in Bilingual Ed: Content Area Considerations Credits: 3.00
SWK (0404) 542 - Oppresion.Diversity, and the Struggle for Human Rights Credits: 3 (4 credits)
SWK (0404) 728 - Social Work With Children And Adolescents Credits: 3
SWK (0404) 792 - Bilingual-Bicultural Internship (4 credits)

Intensive Teacher Institute Program (ITI-BSE) For Bilingual Pupil Personnel

Professional Bilingual school social workers, guidance counselors, or school psychologists participating in the ITI-BSE program will follow course requirements listed above with the following exceptions:

Completion of one year assignment as a Bilingual Pupil Personnel Professional will waive Bilingual internship requirement.
