The Educational Leadership program is offered by the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education at  Adelphi University’s main campus in Garden City. This program is designed specifically for individuals who are seeking entrance into leadership positions in schools such as principal, assistant principal, department chairperson, or supervisor. Through a combination of theoretical and field-based study, candidates will gain greater knowledge and proficiency in the management of school personnel, instructional leadership and in the role technology plays in educational practice.

All courses in educational leadership are blended-hybrid technological courses meeting half-time in class and half-time over the internet.

The 36-credit Master of Arts degree program fulfills the programmatic requirements for the New York State School Building License (SBL).  However, the N.Y.S. Department of Education is the final arbiter regarding certification and licensing.

Note: Documentation of a minimum of three years full-time work in classroom teaching, pupil personnel service, and/or administrative-experience in a PreK–12 public or NYS approved private school is required for entrance.  Valid NYS certification in documented employment area is required for all positions in public schools.  Employment in public schools must be a non-civil service position.  Documentation of satisfaction of NYS mandated workshops in Child Abuse identification and School Violence Prevention and Intervention (SAVE) are required for graduation.

Note:

Courses are three credits unless noted otherwise.
