Museum Studies Program (MSP) is an interdisciplinary 22-credit undergraduate certificate program, created by the two departments – Anthropology and Art and Art History. It is aimed at students in different majors and prepares them for career opportunities in the museum world and/or for further graduate studies.
With its three tracks, the MSP offers flexibility of the curriculum depending on the student’s major, minor, and career plans. Pre-Curatorial track in either Anthropology or Art History could lead to jobs in museums, galleries, auction houses, and publishing. It would also provide sound ground for students who wish to pursue an MA or a PhD in either discipline. Collections Care and Pre-conservation track would potentially lead to jobs in museums, galleries, auction houses, libraries – as art-handlers, collection managers, registrars, and technicians. It also prepares students for further degrees, such as an MA/MS in Conservation or Historic Preservation. A track in Museum/gallery administration/management prepares for careers in the cultural sector (museums, galleries, auction houses, libraries, non-profit, public and private organizations) in development, marketing, and administration.
