PUB (0304) 562 - Planning Public Health Programs and Interventions


Credits: 3.00

Students will learn a framework for effective decision-making at each step of public health intervention planning and intervention; including how to: use theory and evidence in intervention development; explain a logical mapping of public health solutions, and create tools for implementation

Prerequisite 1: PUB 576  
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
•    Identify behavior-oriented and environment-oriented theories and constructs used in intervention mapping
•    Describe ecological approaches to intervention development
•    Apply needs assessment to program planning by specifying program goals 
•    List the steps, processes and products of intervention mapping
•    Choose appropriate theoretical methods for programming
•    Develop outcome and objective measures for an intervention
•    Propose a logic model
•    Develop a matrix of change objectives for environmental-level intervention planning
