ACC (0201) 712 - Advanced Financial and Business Reporting


Credits: 3.00

Students will learn advanced financial accounting and reporting topics, including business combinations and foreign currency translations. In addition, students will also review topics of financial management and risk management, and will study certain areas of cost/managerial accounting.

Course Learning Goals: Upon completion of this course, the successful student will:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the financial reporting environment that involves a review of Form 10-K and Form 10-Q (outside of the financials) and public company disclosure requirements (i.e., S-X and S-K).
  2. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of technical accounting and reporting of various items in the financial statements including but not restricted to revenues, accounting for lessors, stock compensation, and intangible assets.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of business combinations and consolidated financial statements, interim reporting, segment reporting, and foreign currency transactions.
  4. Demonstrate a higher-level understanding of financial statement analysis, financial risk management, and topics under cost and managerial accounting.
