HRM (0208) 470 - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Workplace


Credits: 3.00

Students will learn about the increasingly diverse workforce in the United States and develop the skills needed in working with and managing others who are different from themselves. Students will explore how, for example, race, gender and sex, age, physical characteristics, class, education level, and family structure influence employment experiences. This class incorporates experiential learning techniques for personal growth enabling students to gain the skills necessary to address DEI in the workplace.
 

Prerequisite 1: MGT 262  and MGT 366

Course Learning Goals: By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Understand the current perspectives on the relationships among diversity and inclusion in multicultural organizations
2) Evaluate the aspects of their identity and personal experiences that shape how they interact and engage with others and how they interact and engage with you in organizations
3) Analyze a company’s current approach for diversity, equity and inclusion
4) Develop ways to improve organizations’ efficiency by improving how they manage their diversity, equity and inclusion.
