COM (0108) 305 - Creating the Podcast: Audio Storytelling


Credits: 3.00

Students will explore the fundamental aspects of podcasting and audio storytelling, including interviewing, scriptwriting, performing, and editing podcasts.  Students will design, produce, and publish a feature-length podcast on a subject of their choice.

Course Learning Goals: Students will:

  1. analyze and critique a variety of distinct audio storytelling styles and production forms;
  2. record and edit audio obtained from multiple types of sources (voice, music, “wild” sounds), using professional audio recording equipment and editing software;
  3. write, revise, and record podcast scripts;
  4. tell stories in careful and deliberate ways;
  5. experiment with their own style and approach to storytelling;
  6. prepare for a professional podcasting environment
