HNU (0856) 564 - Fieldwork Experience – Acute Care Part II


Credits: 3.00

Students will complete the second part of the acute care fieldwork course. This experience includes a variety of areas such as medical, surgical, oncology, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiac, diabetes, psych, pediatrics, burns, nutrition support, and other critical care. Fieldwork can take place in a variety of in-patient and outpatient settings.

Course Learning Goals: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Present case studies applying the knowledge of pathophysiology and nutritional biochemistry to physiology, health, and disease to calculate parental feeding infusion rates.
2. Apply and demonstrate an understanding of agricultural practices and processes.
3. Complete a comprehensive nutritional assessment including a nutrition-focused physical exam.
4. Create medical nutrition therapy for patients with various afflictions and diseases.
5. Navigate laboratory results for documentation and recommendations.
