ART (0104) 420 - Animation Projects


Credits: 3.00

In this intermediary course set between COM 345 (Animation) and ART 456 (Advanced Animation Projects), students will further develop skills in traditional keyframe animation through targeted projects. Student projects will culminate in a short film. Animation minors will develop preparatory work for a film to be completed in ART 456.

Course Learning Goals: By the end of this course, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate the twelve basic principles of two-dimensional animation through six intermediary animation exercises. 

2. demonstrate the use of traditional tools in two-dimensional hand-drawn animation via exercises in effects animation (including weather effects such as wind, rain and snow  and animated transitions).

3. demonstrate the use of Adobe Photoshop and After Effects in creating animated digital film clips.

 

4. demonstrate synching of sound and image, including the synching of recorded voice to character mouth movements.

5. present a short proposal for a short animated film, including log line, premise, and concept art.

6. edit and produce a film with synchronized recorded sounds and animated sequences.
