ARH (0111) 360 - The MET: A Global Museum


Credits: 3.00

Turning the MET galleries into a classroom, students explore the wide range of works, artists, styles and cultures that populate its various departments, selecting key works of art based on their historical importance, their unique position within their respective collections and their connections to the museum’s other department.

Free Note: Strongly recommended (but not required) courses include: ANT 111 Cultural Anthropology, ANT 113 Archaeology, ARH 196 Art and the World I, ARH 197 Art and the World II, and any course in the Certificate for Museum Studies program.

Aside from the first meeting that takes place on campus, the class meets every week at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (once at the MET Cloisters, and once at the Fordham University Museum, Rose Hill Campus, Bronx). It is the students’ responsibility to pay for travel to the museum. Note: students will not be responsible for the entrance fee to the Museum.
