ENG (0122) 781 - Practicum One

First year MFA students will activate their roles as literary citizens by engaging in a literary community of their choosing. Students will research and pursue internships, fellowships, and other positions in the writing, editorial, and publishing industries. Students will develop strategies for managing sustainable literary careers alongside their own writing.

Repeatable: No Grade Type: Regular
Course Learning Goals: By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. research and pursue internships, fellowships, and other positions in the writing, editorial, and publishing industries
  2. gain industry-specific experience while developing sustainable strategies for balancing academic demands and creative pursuits
  3. begin and/or continue positions on the editorial staff of literary journals
  4. execute an individual timeline and research agenda to complete their thesis
