COM (0108) 306 - Drones: Piloting, Photography, and Videography


Credits: 3.00

Students will develop the basic skills required to operate drones for filming, photography, and digital aerial imaging (2D/3D mapping), emphasizing flying skills, aeronautical knowledge, safety procedures, and aerial video production and editing.  Students have the option to seek the FAA 107 license, which is required for professional drone work.

Repeatable: No Grade Type: Regular or Pass/Fail
Course Learning Goals: Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:

  1. safely operate commercial and professional grade Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS/drones)
  2. capture still and video images from a UAS, and create films and both 2D and 3D models
  3. be prepared, if desired, to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) UAS commercial pilot license exam
  4. articulate the varied uses of unmanned vehicles in multiple disciplines and careers
