This course is a study of the varied and shifting sensibilities and social concerns of novelists from the Romantic period (Scott, Mary Shelley, the Bront’s) through the Victorians (Dickens, Thackeray, Trollope, Eliot) to the beginnings of Modernism (Hardy).
