NUR (0302) 764 - Advanced Physical Assessment Across the Lifespan


Credits: 3.00

Students critically review and analyze health assessment as a model for the development of diagnostic reasoning skills. A regional approach to physical examination will be used to develop critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills. Legal and ethical components of client interaction are included, as well as communication and leadership skills.

Prerequisite 1: NUR 763  and NUR 756  
Corequisite:   NUR 755  


Course Learning Goals:
  1. Understand the importance between objective and subjective data collection in relation to advanced physical assessment.
  2. Apply critical thinking in formulating differential diagnosis and utilize evidence-based practice.
  3. Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of all cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
  4. Understand the common variations of normal and selected abnormalities within the body systems across the lifespan.
