All students must satisfy the University’s General Education and foreign language requirements , in addition to the requirements for the major.

Explorations (21 credits total)


Literary History (6 credits)


At least 3 credits must be taken in Medieval to Renanissance, indicated by *. The other 3 credits can come from any of the classes in this category.

Additional Explorations (9 credits)


In addition to the above requirements, students will select from the department’s 200- and 300- level offerings to complete the Explorations portion of the Major. Of these 9 credits, at least 3 credits must be a 300-level “Literary History” or “Critical Perspectives” literature course.  Students may request approval from the chair for a class from outside the major to count as an “Explorations” class.
