American business and industry are becoming increasingly aware of the degree to which an organization’s success depends on efficient and effective management of its employees. The Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management has been designed to provide managers and human resource professionals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to enhance their organizations’ performance.

The Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management (ACHR) is open to any student with a bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline. Please contact the Graduate Program Office at (516) 877-4670 for admission requirements.

This certificate can also be earned as part of the M.A. in General Psychology with a Concentration in Human Resource Management .

Please note that the student who has completed the course requirements must submit a specific application for graduation for the Certificate in order to receive the certificate and have it recorded on their transcript. This separate application is required even if the student submits an application to receive a Masters degree at Willumstad School of Business or Derner.

Note:

Each candidate for the ACHR must complete all course requirements with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Students who have taken MGT 561  or HRM 765  at Adelphi within the prior five years may apply the credits for those courses to fulfill the requirements for the ACHR.  Students who have taken undergraduate courses in organizational behavior or organizational theory may request that the requirement for MGT 561  be replaced with either BUS (0204) 689 - Negotiation for the Business Professional  or MGT (0210) 791 - Management Styles And Team Building  instead.  Students who completed the undergraduate HR Minor or undergraduate HR Specialization satisfy the HRM 765 requirement and can substitute an alternative 3-credit independent study or internship.

Courses are 3 credits unless noted otherwise.

For Graduate Students in Other Adelphi Programs

Effective human resource management can enhance organizational performance across industries and professions. The Robert B. Willumstad School of Business and other professional schools at Adelphi have developed a variety of programs that allow students who are enrolled in other professional schools to acquire human resource expertise.
