The advanced certificate in Adapted Physical Education is a 15 credit program that prepares educators to provide prek-12 adapted physical education instruction and intervention. Through coursework, students will learn how to assess movement abilities,apply knowledge of characteristics, modify activities and plan programs to provide appropriate physical education and activity instruction, and meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.

For qualified students who already have a Master’s degree in another area of Education or are in the process of obtaining one, this program offers an Advanced Certificate in Adapted Physical Education. Students may be able to transfer up to 6 credits of non-Adelphi graduate level courses and up to 9 credits of graduate level Adelphi courses to the program upon adviser’s approval. Students may take missing prerequisite courses concurrently with coursework in the advanced certificate in Adapted Physical Education.
