The advanced certificate in Adapted Physical Education is a 15 credit program thatprepares educators to provide prek-12 adapted physical education instruction andintervention. Through coursework, students will learn how to assess movement abilities,apply knowledge of characteristics, modify activities and plan programs to provideappropriate physical education and activity instruction, and meet the needs of individualswith disabilities.
For qualified students who already have a Master’s degree in another area of Education or are inthe process of obtaining one, this program offers an Advanced Certificate in Adapted PhysicalEducation. Students may be able to transfer up to 6 credits of non-Adelphi graduate level coursesand up to 9 credits of graduate level Adelphi courses to the program upon adviser’s approval. Students may take missing prerequisite courses concurrently with coursework in the advancedcertificate in Adapted Physical Education.
