Veterinary Medicine, B.A. or B.S./D.V.M. (Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine)


Adelphi University has a 4+4 Articulation Program with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) in which students’ study for four years at Adelphi and earn their B.S. or B.A. degree. The Early Acceptance Program is designed to facilitate the admission of Adelphi University students into RUSVM. After successful completion of the fourth year at RUSVM, students are eligible for the D.V.M. degree.

Admissions Eligibility Requirements

  • Completion of at least (90) credits of course work at Adelphi, including completion of all General Education Completion of B.S. or B.A. degree with Adelphi and the following pre-requisite coursework at Adelphi (Adelphi students can apply to RUSVM after completing at least 90 credits at Adelphi and begin their studies at RUSVM after receiving their Bachelor’s degree):
       o Biology with lab: BIO 111  & BIO 112  
       o Chemistry with lab: CHE 111  & CHE 112  
       o Organic Chemistry with lab: CHE 251  /CHE 253  & CHE 252  /CHE 254  
       o Physics 1 with lab: PHY 111   or PHY 113  
       o Biochemistry with lab: CHE 471  /CHE 473   or BIO 504  
       o Genetics: BIO 222   or Cell Biology: BIO 365  
       o 2 English Classes
       o Statistics: MTH 113  or MTH 114  
 
  • Maintain a 3.3 overall GPA and 3.3 science GPA
  • No final grade below a C - in any pre-requisite coursework
  • A score in the 20th percentile or better in each category of the Graduate Record Examination (in the case of multiple attempts, the highest score is taken from each section)
  • Experience working with animals with the equivalent of at least (150) hours of veterinary profession experience, working with animals or veterinary research. It is preferable that all such experience has taken place under the supervision of practicing veterinarians, but comparable experience may be considered.
  • Personal essay indicating interest and experience with veterinary medicine.
  • Submit Ross University DVM Application no later than October of senior year.
  • A formal interview with RUSVM.
