PIA (0501) 395 - Integrative Neuroscience Seminar (Interdisciplinary)


Credits: 2.00

Students will read and discuss literature from the disciplines of psychology and neurobiology, including papers presenting conflicting points of view. While exploring selected topics, students will be guided in critical analysis of the relationship between psychological processes and physiological events through readings, discussions, lectures, guest lectures, and videos.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

analyze and discuss current topics in neuroscience, including advanced discoveries in the field

identify the neurobiological and psychological contributions to emotion, behavior, and cognition, including disease states that affect these aspects of mental processes

engender interest in neuroscience topics that can lead to the development of student’s research interest

read, interpret, and understand the primary literature—in neurobiology and psychology—on selected topics
