PHY (0156) 125 - Physics Orientation Seminar

Students will receive an orientation to the physical sciences and engineering, career opportunities in the field, safety in the laboratory, and the Physics Department as a whole. The course will conclude with an experimental project that introduces students to experimental physics and engineering.

Course Learning Goals: In the one-credit Physics Orientation Seminar, students will

● become familiar with physics as a major

● learn about future opportunities for physics majors and engineering students OR: in physics and engineering

● be immersed into the Physics department, its faculty, and opportunities within the major

● develop skills to use scholarship to get appropriate information about physics

● learn how to be successful at Adelphi and in a career as a physicist.
