MTH (0144) 384 - Computational Mathematics

Credits: 3.00

Students explore the theory and basic techniques of computational mathematics. Students will be exposed to numerical methods from calculus and linear algebra. Emphasis will be on critical thinking and problem solving using a programming language.

Prerequisite 1: CSC 171  MTH 142  MTH 253
Course Learning Goals: Students will:
•    Develop a deep understanding of the numerical methods behind calculus. This objective will be measured by Quizzes 1, 4, 6, 10, Examination 1, and the Final Examination.
•    Develop a deep understanding of the numerical methods behind linear algebra. This objective will be measured by Quizzes 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 Examinations 1 & 2, and the Final Examination.
•    Develop the skills necessary to use technology to solve problems in computational mathematics. This objective will be measured by all course assessments.
