COM (0108) 302 - Entrepreneurship and the Arts


Credits: 3.00

Students will develop the entrepreneurial skills to freelance, create their own business, or become independent contractors in creative fields. The course culminates in the presentation of a growth plan including a multi-year timeline, budgets, potential competitors and customers, mentorship and networking opportunities, and marketing strategies.

Free Note: This course may not count towards the Art 425 requirement in the BFA program.

Course Learning Goals: Students will:

1) synthesize class readings and exercises with real-life knowledge or discussion;

2) examine or practice strategies for navigating the complicated terrain of working for themselves;

3) develop a growth plan;

4) develop entrepreneurial skills by presenting, explaining, and defending growth plans throughout the semester.
