ESM (0813) 790 - STEAM Student Teaching


Credits: 3.00

Students will work under mentors to assume greater responsibility in designing and implementing STEAM curriculum across K-12 clinically rich settings. Students will explore how theory meets practice with regard to culturally relevant pedagogy, supporting all students with their language and learning needs, effective teaching strategies and management practices.

Free Note: Students must complete 240 hours of student teaching in a partner school for each of (2) eight week continuous cycles. 

Course Learning Goals:
  1. Design lessons and examine student work for effective instruction in STEAM
  2. Reflect and assess specific teaching situations
  3. Develop and modify STEAM experiences for student engagement and learning
  4. Engage in critical discussions with fellow peers concerning the teaching and learning environment
  5. Understand and navigate the complex school environment.
