MGT (0210) 580 - Uses and Abuses of Data in Business


Credits: 3.00

Students will gain an appreciation for and understanding of ethical data governance for businesses. This course explores the ethical ramifications of choices we make throughout the data analysis lifecycle. Data collection, storage, analysis, and application all will be examined through class discussions and case studies.

Course Learning Goals: Upon completing the course, a student should be able to: 

● identify and assess the ethical impacts of a given course of action  in data-driven organizations

● describe techniques for protecting privacy and sharing data ethically

● consider how to minimize both collective and individual harm associated with data-driven organizational processes. 

● perform an ethical audit of data-driven processes in a given organizational context.
