MTH (0144) 226 - Data Visualization


Credits: 3.00

Students will study the techniques and algorithms for creating effective data visualizations based on principles from graphic design, visual art, perceptual psychology, and cognitive science. Students will utilize their statistical foundations and these visual representations to make informed decisions about data. 

Prerequisite 1: MTH 225  , CSC 175  
Course Learning Goals: Students will:

● Apply the key techniques and theory used in visualization, including data models, graphical perception and techniques for visual encoding and interaction. This will be measured by Quizzes 1-4, Examination 1, and the Final Exam. 

● Utilize common data domains and corresponding analysis tasks, including multivariate data, networks, text and cartography. This will be measured by Quizzes 5-7, Examination 2, and the Final Exam.

● Gain practical experience building and evaluating visualization systems. This will be measured by Quizzes 8-10 and the Final Exam.
