ENV (0125) 504 - Green Energy Management


Credits: 3.00

Students will explore the complexities of transitioning from fossil fuels to green energy, and examine renewable energy sources from a greenhouse gas emission mitigation perspective. Consider the science for and the environmental, social, and economic factors involved in establishing a green future.

Course Learning Goals: Upon successfully completing this course, students will

1. develop an understanding of the scope of scientific and social science research undergirding the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources;

2. research and discuss renewable energy sources and technologies, characterizing their potential deployment and environmental/social impacts;

3. critique the actions and strategies of key governmental, corporate, and advocacy entities as they relate to greenhouse gas emissions and evaluate their respective roles in the “green” transition;

4.scrutinize complex scientific figures from the climate change literature to effectively communicate findings.
